7 Awesome DIY Projects For Your Game Room

October 31, 2017 by adminPO

In need of awesome DIY projects for your game room? If you’re still missing a few pieces to make your game room the best there is, try these ideas.

7 Awesome DIY Projects For Your Game Room

It’s finally happened. You are now officially living the dream—you have a game room! Now the biggest worry you’re going to have to face is how to fill it. We’ve searched the internet for the best DIY projects to fill your game room with quality entertainment—and have fun doing so. After all, nothing beats the joy of creating something functional and cool, especially if the end result is aimed towards getting the most of your entertainment. So, without further ado, here are seven projects that we think would create the ultimate game room, whether it’s a new addition to your home or an old room that’s turned a bit boring.

1. Wine Cork Dart Board Backer

image via WonderHowTo

We expect you’ve worked hard to get your game room, and you certainly don’t want to mess it up with lots of holes in your wall. You may be a darts pro but your guests (and maybe children) might not be. To avoid this messy situation, you can build yourself a wine cork dart board backer. This is especially good if you’ve been saving wine corks for a DIY project (if you haven’t you’ll have to open a bottle and get drinking—responsibly). The various shades make the piece rather artistic, and you can always opt to color your corks, if you feel like funking the backer up. Detailed (and easy) instructions here.

Recognize this? You’ve also seen it here!

2. Chalkboard Table

The first rule of the game room is that there will be no fighting. This new addition to your home should be your escape, the place you go to have fun, and not a room full of arguments over the score of a game—which is why this chalkboard table is perfect. You’ll need a table to place your beverages, maybe play some cards, and now it can be used to keep score too.

This is easier than you might think, just follow these very simple instructions. And if you want to make DIY chalkboard paint, check this out too!

3. Entertainment Center

Often the epicenter of the game room is the entertainment center. The place for your TV for watching sporting events, for your consoles for playing video games and your audio system to keep the mood lively. All of this equipment can create a lot of mess, and you’ll certainly want a way to keep it all neat and tidy—especially since shiny new consoles and peripherals like the highly-anticipated Oculus Rift hit the market quite often.

This doesn’t have to be a huge project either! These guys have made a brilliant entertainment center for under $50 using cinder blocks and wood. Do watch the video tutorial.

And if you don’t have a wifi yet on your game room, there are games that requires no wi-fi.

4. Home Cinema Seating

image via maj3shouse.pro

If you’ve got a very large game room (lucky you!) you might consider the following DIY project—home cinema seating, made out of pallets. This is such a great idea for your DIY project, we wonder why we haven’t seen more of it. We love DIY projects that make use of cheaper, easier to use, materials that any DIY enthusiast can work with. Plus, it’s creative upcycling!

Stack the pallets on top of each other, set this up in front of your new entertainment center, put on the game and relax. Find out how to achieve it here. If your space does not allow for stadium-type seating, you can still use pallets to create comfortable sofas and take advantage of nooks.

Love pallets? Don’t miss these projects!

5. Poker Table

image via marsh-reef.org

For more serious game rooms, you might want to go one step further than a score-keeping chalkboard table and build your own poker table (you can have both, of course, it’s your game room).

Now, the skill level of this project is a little higher, but we believe in you and just imagine what fun you’ll have when you invite your friends around to play on this! These instructions make it seem like a breeze—perhaps it’s not so bad after all?

6. Poker Hands Wall Art

image via nilimahome.com

If you’re planning on inviting guest to play on your brand new poker table, you should take into consideration that they might not be as up to speed with the game as you are. Or perhaps you’re not that experienced yourself, no shame in that. To solve this minor issue and add some relevant artwork to your game room, consider printing out a useful wall guide of poker hands. This could be easily achieved by buying a ready-made frame that will suit the decor of your game room. Cut some thin but sturdy, card to fit the frame. Using real packs of cards, lay out and stick down the hands in order—cardboard glue should suffice. Lastly, label your hands so that people know what they’re holding (or pretending to). If you’re not totally confident about what each hand is, you can take a look at a poker hands guide, to make sure you’re getting it right.

7. Rubik’s Cube Storage

Every good game room needs plenty of storage of your board games, cards, rackets and whatever else you need for fun to commence, but that doesn’t mean that your storage has to be boring, plain drawers! Some clever chap has only gone and made a set of Rubik’s cube storage draws—that actually spin.

This might be a bit of a brain scratcher to make, just like the game, but these instructions will prove very helpful.

So there you have them: our top seven DIY game room ideas. There are loads more great DIY game room projects out there, and we hope you have as much fun putting your new room together as you will using it. Happy DIYing!

October 10, 2017 by adminPO

Be warned, these man cave ideas might have you staying in your favorite room the whole day. Grab a beer and check out which DIYs to cross off your list.

Man Cave Ideas | DIY Furnishings For The Man By The Man

Sometimes, guys just need to get away from it all. That’s what a man cave is for. In it, I can’t be bothered with anything happening in the outside world — it’s my safe place. And with these man cave ideas, it’ll definitely stay that way.

1. Denim Ottoman

image via Pillar Box Blue

This denim ottoman is great for hiding unwanted clutter in the man cave. Personally, I use it as a storage compartment for all my video game controllers, but I bet you could place just about anything you want inside.

2. Wine Barrel Coffee Table

Got a wine barrel you have no idea what to do with? Turn it into a coffee table. Use a ratchet strap to help align the area where you’ll be cutting the barrel in half. Don’t forget to ensure the strap is straight.

3. Magnetic Bottle Opener

image via Rugged Fellows Guide

I like leaving this magnetic bottle opener on the door of my fridge. That way, I won’t even have to open drawers looking for a bottle opener anymore.

4. Dart Board Backing

image via Tiny Cabin Big Dreams

Lauren loves wine like crazy so she always has a ton of spare wine bottles and corks laying around. One of the good things that have come out of this — apart from our usual wine nights — is this backing I’ve constructed for my dart board. It doesn’t hurt that my wall has an added layer of protection against my darts as well.

5. Crate Toilet Paper Holder

image via Funky Junk Interiors

Who would’ve thought a wooden crate could be used as a toilet paper holder? I sure didn’t! Now all I have to do is find an old license plate I can use to place on the crate.

6. Jack Daniels Soap Dispenser

My buddies and I love a good bottle of Jack Daniels, which is why I’m pretty excited to be making this DIY. It’s so simple too. Literally, all I have to do is just pour the liquid soap into the bottle, and attach the head of the soap dispenser on top. That’s it!

7. DIY Hooks From Wrenches

image via The Black Workshop

These DIY hooks are made from spare wrenches I had from an old tool box. The secret to getting them to bend is to simply heat up the tool a bit. Just be careful when you bend the ends together.

8. Wood Slice Serving Board

image via Manmade DIY

This wood slice serving board won’t cost you above $10, even if it looks fancy. Start by looking for dried and seasoned hardwood stumps. If you can’t find any, head to your nearest craft store and look for a basswood slice.

9. Pallet Coffee Table

If you want to make a big coffee table for your man cave, you may need to increase the number of wood pallets on hand. This tutorial uses 3 pallets, but you can add or reduce these according to the size of the table you’d prefer.

10. Industrial Bookshelf

image via DIY ESQ

Give your books a manlier home by placing them in an industrial bookshelf. Begin by laying out how you want your shelf to look like on the wall. Do this by attaching strips of masking tape to help visualize your project.

11. Wall Pallet Arrow

image via Love Grows Wild

My man cave is my sanctuary. So to help me remind myself to leave all problems at the door, I’ve put in a wood pallet arrow on the wall. It’s kind of my way of telling myself to leave all the bad vibes outside.

12. Penny Tiled Floor

image via Pretty Purple Door

A penny for your thoughts? How about some pennies for your floor? This DIY makes use of your unwanted pennies by placing strong glue and pressing your coins onto the floor.

13. Pallet Bar

image via Infarrantly Creative

Always dreamed of having your own man cave bar? Well, now you can make one using some pallets. Don’t forget to add in wooden boards behind the front frame of your bar. Doing so will ensure a sturdier furniture piece.

14. Beer Bottle Glasses

image via DIY Projects

Put your empty beer bottles to good use by turning them into glasses. By the way, sand the edges once the glass is cut. You’ll definitely need to make sure the mouth of the glass is smooth.

15. Balancing Bookshelf

image via Manmade DIY

This installation piece looks super cool and functions as an awesome bookshelf. Just remember not to put too many books on one side, as it could make the whole shelf fall.

16. Suitcase Shelves

image via A Diamond In The Stuff

Want more shelf options? These suitcase shelves are definitely one of my man cave statement pieces. By the way, I’ve found it’s best to take out the lining inside the suitcases before beginning the DIY, as they can get a bit smelly.

Bonus Inspiration!

17. Barrel Bed

image via Instash

I’ve got to say. This barrel bed sure looks pretty inviting. If I had one, I reckon I’d have some of the most relaxing naps ever.

18. Tire Sinks

image via Mara Beel

Take your favorite room up a notch by installing these tire sinks in your bathroom. This would be perfect for a radiator springs man cave concept.

19. Nintendo Controller Coffee Table

Would you believe this Nintendo controller coffee table actually functions? I know! I’m honestly really tempted to buy this online. It would take my gaming to a whole new level.
